Wedding at Village de Sully, the vintage hamlet

Vintage wedding in a reconstructed village in the heart of the Yvelines for Mélodie and Damien

From the very first time we spoke, Mélodie and Damien won me over. They were looking for a photographer for a wedding in the Yvelines region, and contacted me directly via my website after viewing my portfolio. During our first face-to-face meeting, the words "geek" and "vintage" were quickly uttered, and for me they're magical words. We're from the same generation, we have the same cultural references. Manga, video games, 80s cinema, pop culture - these were the main points in common that made me realize I was going to love this wedding.

Le Village de Sully, the most vintage of all wedding estates

When they told me the theme was going to be vintage and pop culture, I didn't know anything about the Village de Sully. On the big day, in this early 20th-century hamlet reconstituted from an old farmhouse, with itsperiod shops, cobbled streets and telephone booths, I knew they weren't kidding about the theme and that the cursors were going to be pushed very far. This wedding was an ode to pop culture, everything was there. Firstly, in the venue, the Village de Sully in Rosny-sur-Seine, then in the details of the bride and groom's decor, of course. Mario and Luigi, Star Wars, Zelda and Ghostbuster figurines were laid out on all the tables, and above all, the presence of a mythical car on the estate, which amazed all the guests: the famous Dolorean from Back to the Future. Even the opening of the ball featured lightsabers and mythical scenes from 80s movies... all fun and games.

On-site preparations for Mr and Mrs, always the best choice...

They got ready just a few meters from each other, each in one of the many rooms offered by the Village de Sully. This is always the best configuration for the wedding photographer when the bride and groom decide to get ready in the same place. You can alternate between the two preparations, and it spices things up a bit for the couple to know that their other half is standing just a few meters away, without being allowed to see each other. So first I reported on Mélodie's make-up, hair and wardrobe preparations, before shooting a first look in the Village's flowery alleys, just in front of the little grocery store.

The Back to the Future couple session

We took the opportunity to take a few minutes to take the first couple photos, before all the guests arrived. For this session, which was also intended to be vintage, the bride and groom rented a rather original and world-famous car, the famous Dolorean from Back to the Future, with, as a little bonus, the famous Almanac of sports.

A secular ceremony with a traditional twist

After the first look, the guests arrived and settled into a beautiful hall for the ceremony. It was a secular ceremony, but with a religious twist, or rather a traditional one with the broken glass, a ritual unique to Jewish weddings. A secular ceremony has the advantage of not being codified by a sacred religious ritual, so you can project your whole personality and history into it, and make it the ceremony that suits you, with or without a nod to each person's origins.

Entertainment, Cocktail and Party

After the ceremony and before the cocktail party, the bride and groom organized an escape game. Guests worked in teams to find clues and answers scattered around the village. It was the perfect way for them to discover all the nooks and crannies of the reconstructed hamlet that is the Village de Sully.

The cocktail party and the evening went on in the vintage, geeky spirit of the 80s. The highlight of the evening was the bride and groom's ball opening, featuring several themes, the most memorable of which was Star-Wars, complete with lightsaber combat.
