Vintage wedding in Bastia, Corsica

Long-standing friends

Pauline and Romain have been friends for a long time. They are from Corsica but live in Paris. We've known each other since university. 

For their wedding, I put all my energy into delivering my most beautiful photos, charged with all the love I bear them. I joined them a few days before the wedding in Bastia, and was made incredibly welcome in an apartment next door to the bride's parents.

The day before, briefing and final preparations

On Friday, we took the opportunity to take care of their final preparations together, picking up the gentleman's suit with him, and collecting and transporting the last boxes full of decorations for the cocktail party and vin d'honneur. And we gave each other a final briefing on this famous Corsican wedding in the evening on the port of Bastia, over a good fish with friends.

Preparations in the family apartment

At dawn on Saturday morning, Pauline's preparations took place in her parents' beautiful apartment, ideally located right in the center of Bastia and, above all, next door to my own apartment for the occasion, so I arrived on time. Surrounded by her best friends, she got ready in a friendly, family atmosphere, with plenty of time to get ready as the town hall was right next door. She received this bouquet of flowers with this letter, I didn't ask who it was from, family friends or maybe even the groom, but the intention was very beautiful and it was enough for me to capture a few moments of emotion. It was also a bit of the family's daily life, a little disrupted that morning, that I photographed during the preparations. I remember Dad still working in his beautiful library in front of his computer, cigar in mouth. The big breakfast had been prepared on the kitchen table, as it certainly was every morning.

Bastia Town Hall

We met up with Romain at Bastia town hall, very close to the apartment. The exterior décor was a perfect match for the day's event. A beautiful fountain, shaded and sunny areas and a room capable of accommodating all guests. We then headed to this sunny restaurant in the hills above Bastia for cocktails and a festive aperitif.

Situated above a small beach, we took advantage of the opportunity to carry out a sweet, funny and tender couple session in less than five minutes. The evening took place on the terrace of a downtown restaurant, with the whole of Bastia at their side.
